All room names are connected to wine, with each name symbolising a different step in the wine-making process.

The smallest room is named Vitis after the Latin term for vine. Vinum is the Latin word for wine, and the Italian term “pergola” stands for the traditional shape of the vineyards in South Tyrol, especially for the famous Vernatsch wine. The term, however, has a second significance: the Latin term pergula means front porch or annexe. Barrique is the technical term for the oak tree barrels in which red and white wine is stored. A traditional barrique barrel contains 225 litres. Magnum champagne bottles are the really big, 1.5 litre ones, while Vitis Pergola is the combination of the names of the two rooms which combine to make a family suite. Needless to say, the Weinmesser suite is named after the officials who traditionally looked after the quality and transportation of the local farmers’ wine, and who lend their name to the entire hotel.-->
